Characterization of the current state of the development of reading comprehension skill in the teaching of English for specific purposes in nurse teachers

ABSTRACT
Although professionals have to confront the challenge of looking up specialized bibliography in English language and this is a common general objective than for English for specific purposes courses in English teaching for nursing careers few investigations address comprehension skills development diagnosis. Objective: To characterize the state of the development of English for specific purposes reading comprehension skill in nurse teachers of “Julio Trigo López” Faculty of Medical Sciences. Material and method: A descriptive, observational study was carried out. The universe was integrated by 9 full time nurse teachers in the above mentioned faculty. The study was done with 100 % of the population. Findings: The scientific methodology used made it possible to of the development of English for specific purposes reading comprehension skill in nurse teachers of “Julio Trigo López” Faculty of Medical Sciences. Amongst the main results appear that only 11.1 % of the nurse teachers demonstrate a high level of reading comprehension skill development in the socialization of their scientific works, 22.2 % was found to have an average level and the 66.7 % a low level of development of this skill.REFERENCES
