ABSTRACT
Lower gastrointestinal bleeding is a common matter in a pediatric physician office due to its etiology diversity. The causes of gastrointestinal tract bleeding can be classified according to the child’s age, considering proper signs and symptoms. Meckel’s diverticulum is the most common congenital abnormality of the gastrointestinal tract and it must be included in the differential diagnosis of gastrointestinal bleeding in infants and toddlers with hematochezia, intermittent or recurrent abdominal pain, chronic anemia or intestinal blockage. The importance of presenting this particular case resides in the complexity of its clinical presentation in a 14-month-old male and his adequate study approach.
