ABSTRACT
Throughout our history, alcohol has been present to celebrate the great
moments, is our counselor for better or worse. However, it is well known
that alcohol harms health; affecting different organs differently. Heart
is no exception. Long-term excessive alcohol consumption leads to
a type of dilated cardiomyopathy unrelated to ischemia, this entity is
known as alcoholic cardiomyopathy. Currently there is debate about
the amount and duration of alcohol consumption required to go from
being a protector to produce adverse clinical effects on the heart factor.
This paper reviews the available literature to date.
