ABSTRACT
Introduction: One of the problems faced by nursing along its evolution has been understanding the ontological foundations and theoretical components of care, in order to gain consistent significance as a human science.
Objective: Describe the qualitative elements included in Jean Watson's theory Philosophy and Science of Care and Emotional Intelligence.
Methods: The objective was achieved applying theoretical, inductive-deductive, specifically historical-logical, analysis-synthesis and systemic-structural-functional methods, based on the principle of rationality of conceptual sets. The search was carried out in the databases Medline, Lilacs, DARE and Cochrane Library. An analysis was conducted of ten factors included in Jean Watson's theory and their relationship to emotional intelligence. Each of these factors has a dynamic phenomenological component related to the recipients of care.
Conclusion: In the context of emotional intelligence, each of the elements included in Jean Watson's theory implies the presence of reflexive, systematic, controlled and critical processing of its object, based on a scientific method aimed at the search, statement and solution of problems arising from human life. Each of these factors has a dynamic phenomenological component related to the recipients of care.
