ABSTRACT
Precision medicine is an approximation of genomic medicine to the treatment and prevention of diseases based on the analysis of the genetic variability, environment and lifestyle of each person. The risk factors are involved in the genomic triad, particularly in the human genome, microbiome and epigenome. We need to apply new concepts on risk factors, and use the existing evidence to support the identification of the risk profile of each person in order to adopt the strategies of primary prevention and early treatment aimed at each type of periodontal disease, and in each susceptible patient.
