RESUMEN
La medicina de precisión es una aproximación de la medicina genómica al tratamiento y prevención de las enfermedades basada en el análisis de la variabilidad genética, el ambiente y el estilo de vida de cada persona. Los factores de riesgo están involucrados en la tríada genómica, particularmente en el genoma, microbioma y epigenoma humanos. Es necesario aplicar los nuevos conceptos sobre los factores de riesgo y utilizar las evidencias actuales para apoyar la identificación del perfil de riesgo en cada individuo a fin de adoptar las estrategias de prevención primaria y un tratamiento oportuno enfocado a cada tipo de enfermedad periodontal y en cada tipo de paciente susceptible.
