ABSTRACT

Neuropathic pain (NP) is a heterogeneous condition with diverse symptomatology. Despite the controversies regarding its definition and classification, which difficult a proper documentation of its epidemiology, it has been estimated that la large number of people will suffer this painful condition. Using that consideration a task force was created to reevaluate and propose recommendations which might facilitate the decision making about the diagnose and therapeutic approach for this kind of pain. A search of medical literature was made in different databases. We conducted three work sessions where the diagnosis and treatment of painful neuropathic diseases were discussed.
