ABSTRACT
Recent information suggests that up to 80% of patients with influenza A H1N1 (2009) continue to shed the virus at day 5, 40% at day 7, and 10% at day 10. It has also been described that children and young adults can shed virus for 10 or more days, and immunosupressed patients can shed the virus even for weeks; it has not been established the exact shedding period in this patients. We present a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia infected with influenza A H1N1 (2009) in whom we documented viral shedding for over three weeks.
