ABSTRACT
Our objective was to demonstrate performance of myocutaneous flap
a feasible by general surgeons. The setting was a secondary-level
health care trauma center.
A male of years of age suffered injuries on the left side of his
neck and left shoulder due to a gunshot. Deltoid, trapezius,
clavicle, transverse cervical artery, and supraclavicular space
were damaged with exposure of pleura; resultant damaged area measured
12 cm. Debridement was performed in steps until healed tissue
appeared. A 18-cm defect resulted, and a pectoral flap was used
for reconstruction with satisfactory evolution. Performance of
pediculed myocutaneous pectoral flap by general surgeons with
basic draining in reconstructive procedures is feasible.
