Hormonal contraceptives and alteration of thyroid function tests

ABSTRACT
The use of hormonal contraceptives has exponentially increased and day after day the use of these drugs is more common. If by any chance these patients, who use hormonal contraceptives, have a thyroid hormone function test done, there is a chance that the interpretation can be erroneous,
leading to a misdiagnosis and mistreatment of these patients. No substance used is without side effects, this is why every time one gives out a drug one must know about its possible side effects. Very few studies analyze the secondary effects and interactions of hormonal contraceptives with the thyroid function tests.
