Incidencia de Retinopatía del Prematuro en el Servicio de Neonatología del Hospital Infantil del Estado de Sonora

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Theretinopathy of prematurity isthe main cause of blindness in the premature, it can be prevented in more of 80% of cases.Of the 50,000 blind children world wide for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), 24,000 are in Latin Amerina. Objective Determine the incidence of retinopathy of prematurity in the service of neonatology at Childrens Hospital of Sonora.
Methods: An observational cross-sectional study, restrospective was held, in the period of janaury to december of 2013, the clinical records of patient swho met the selection criteria were revised.
Results: There was a screening percentage of only 70.5% of patients with risk factors. ROP incidence wases timated in our service in 58.1%, of wich only 9.3% received treament, there were no differences in gender, risk factors mostrelated to ROP was use of suplement aloxygen RR 4.7 (IC 95%, 24.2-0.9) and in second place were the presence of sepsis present in 94% of patients with ROP.
Conclusion: The incidence of ROP in our hospital is higher than that reported in the literature in 58.1%, we have a screening in 70% of the patients, weneed more trained personal to screen for the disease, and the equipment and instruments to do it.
