ABSTRACT
A 13 year old male with Treacher-Collins syndrome and mental retardation is presented. He underwent oral rehabilitation under general anesthesia. Following the surgical procedure the extubation caused several complications. It was necessary to reintubate the patient which was possible on the fifth attempt. These procedures caused edema and bleeding. Hematic fluid was detected in the lungs. He was treated with antibiotics, antinflamatories and ventilation support. He recovered and was discharged in good condition. This case illustrates the fact that the extubation procedure is as important as intubation in patients with difficult airway.
