ABSTRACT
Introduction: Spinal meningiomas are benign intradural extramedullary tumors, characterized by slow growth. Management is performing plastic dural plasty surgery, in order to decompress the spinal.
Methods: 5 cases of meningiomas who were treated by dural plasty, monitoring of the study was to evaluate the preoperative and postoperative with visual analog scale and functional status according to the Nurick scale, track 4 years and evaluated by MRI.
Results: The assessment of the onset of symptoms was on average 10.2 months (range 3 an 18 months) and the mean postoperative follow of 48 months (range 42 to 61 months). Visual analog scale preoperatively was 8 points and postoperatively was 2 points on average. Nurick scale, in average preoperatively our cases was a grade 3 and grade 2 postoperative.
Conclusions: Spinal meningiomas are benign tumors intern spinal, intradural, extramedullar that according to literature, can be completely resected surgically and have low risk of recurrence.
