ABSTRACT
We present the case of a female patient, age 34 years, admitted with clinical symptoms of exertional dyspnea associated with paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea and orthopnea. Radiological findings indicated pulmonary arterial hypertension, for which reason evaluations were conducted jointly with the department of cardiopneumology to establish
the diagnosis. The patient’s torpid evolution culminated in heart failure and cardiorespiratory arrest. The minimal number of patients of this type reported makes this an interesting case. We also present a review of the subject.
