ABSTRACT
Introduction: In this article we will explain the oxygen flow from the entry to the airway through the ventilation process to move into the arterial circulation to diffuse through the membrane alveolo-capilar.
Methods: Evaluate these processes, through a sampling of arterial blood gases, to perform a respiratory assessment in the patient in critical condition will be displayed. The exercise of arterial as through which we will calculate oxygen inspiratory pressure (PiO
2), alveolar oxygen pressure (PAO
2) and alveolar-arterial gradient (GA-a) will also exhibit normal values and causes of alteration.
Conclusions: Through the respiratory assessment we can learn more facts about the state breathing of the patient in critical condition.
