ABSTRACT
Paraganglioma are neuroendocrine tumors derived from neural crest and may localized in the carotid body, vagal nerve, yugular bulb and tympanic branch or the ascendent pharyngeal artery. Most of them are bening, of slow growing; about 6-19% are malignant, with evidence of metastatic or regional disease. Choice treatment of malignant paraganglioma are surgical resection of the primary site plus neck disection. Surgical treatment plus coadjuvant radiotherapy is used with less frequency; chemotherapy is administered in cases of distant metastatic
disease. This paper reports the case of a 37-year-old male with a tumor at right cervical region of two years of evolution, of slow growing, not painful, acompanied by dizziness with physical activity. TAC evidenced bilateral carotid glomus: right 6.3 x 5.5 x 4.2 cm and left 2.7 x 2.3 x 2.3 cm. Previous embolization, right carotid glomus was resected and then the left one. Currently, patient is in consolidation with radiotherapy.
