Comparison between nubain alone and nubain with clonidine after perianal surgery

ABSTRACT

Objective: To compare two methods of post-operative analgesia
Method: Patients were divided into two similar groups after perianal surgery, the groups were given the opiate nubain with or without an adjuvant, clonidine, at the peridural area. The analgesic effect was compared over a 24 hour period.
Results: The group that received clonidine had less pain that showed a statistically significant difference. No undesirable systemic effects were observed.
