ABSTRACT
Complications of alveolar bone loss due to periodontal infection and tooth extraction are common clinical situations. The use of bone graft materials substitutes to correct these disorders is well documented. This case report presents a brief overview of the causes of alveolar bone loss and biological characteristics, description and indications of a substitute bone graft material, in particular tricalcium phosphate β, as an alternative treatment are evaluated in a presentation of two clinical cases.
