ABSTRACT
Hepatocellular carcinoma is the
most common primary hepatic
neoplasia and its pronostic is
related with the stage in which
the diagnostic is made. Its
strong increase in the incidence
in the last years has made it the
fifth most common neoplasia
worldwide, probably because
the etiologic factors as Hepatitis
Virus B and C, alcohol and
toxins. The diagnosis is based in
screening tests in the chirrotic
patients with complementary
imaging tests and the measure
of alpha-fetoprotein seric levels.
The treatment is determined by
the gravity of the hepatopathy
and the stage of the tumor.
