Onychomycosis: treatment with Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (1,064 nm)

ABSTRACT
The use of laser for the treatment of onychomycosis is an easy, fast and uncomplicated method. The present study included 62 patients with clinical diagnosis of onychomicosis confirmed by KOH(+), all of which were treated in a single session of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (1,064 nm), with a 100% clinical response at nine months of follow-up, without adverse effects. We propose it as a novel and safe method for the treatment of this nail pathology.
