Impact of the diploma's course' Management of Medical Care' in the professional performance of the graduates

ABSTRACT
Introduction: management of the medical care is an indispensable activity to achieve medical service efficiency. In the medical school of Universidad Nacioanl Autonoma de Mejico, there is a diploma's course on "management of the medical care" aimed at postgraduate students.Objectives: to determine the professional impact of the diploma's course on the graduates from five courses from 2005 to 2009.
Methods: retrospective, observational, cross-sectional and descriptive study of 12 independent variables in a sample of 51 participants. They were surveyed to gather information which was later analyzed with summary statistics and logistic regression.
Results: one hundred percent of participants answered that the diploma's course had favored their professional development' 70.6% believed that they had acquired the necessary tools to attain professional promotion; 68.6% reported better economic incomes and 98% felt more satisfied in their work. The results of the survey were satisfactory for educational intervention. The logistic regression analysis did not find any statistical significant among the independent variables.
Conclusions: the diploma's course on management of medical care has a positive effect on the professional development of the graduates, but this finding could not be attributed to any of the studied variables, which may be explained on account of the multifactoral origin of the professional success.
