ABSTRACT
Background: Congenital malformations of the musculoskeletal system
include a wide variety of deformities, malformations or birth defects are due to alterations in the morphological, structural, functional, or
molecular embryo development. Has been difficult to accurately classifying
them all.
Objectives: Knowing the most common musculoskeletal abnormalities
in pediatric patients attending the General Ignacio Zaragoza ISSSTE
regional hospital:
Material and Method: It is a descriptive, retrospective, observational
study, which was conducted through a systematic review of the records
of all patients born alive, the general regional hospital Ignacio Zaragoza,
within the period March 2010 to February 2014.
Results: Our universe of study consisted of 4466 live births, of which
2239 were females 50.13% and 2227 males 49.84%. A total of 292
defects were obtained in 208 patients. with some type of orthopedic orthopedic
congenital anomaly or syndrome, found in patients diagnosed
at birth and patients collected for the first time in the outpatient clinic.
Conclusions: Orthopedic malformations require genetic counseling to
carry out actions to confine the diagnosis and occasionally offer some
timely medical or surgical treatment, as well as guide parents to understand
the characteristics of the disorder and the risk of recurrence in
subsequent pregnancies. documented that developmental dysplasia of
the hip was the main diagnosis at birth, followed by alterations column.
