ABSTRACT

Using overdentures gives us a significant increase in the stability, retention and support of the prosthesis, improving the life quality of the patient. The complications that affect this kind of treatments are mainly related to biological conditions, specially the presence of periodontal disease. Due to the high variability that these treatments can present and the lack of studies in this field, this work was decided to be performed in order to observe the periodontal condition of the prosthesis abutments used in the overdentures with mobile, resilient and retentive devices (Locator®, one of the most common retainers in the market), so we could learn its performance in time.
