Prevalence of depression in medical residents of different specialties. Health Secretary of the Federal District

ABSTRACT
Objective: To analyze the prevalence lapsica to thirty days of depression in medical residents who are performing the medical specialty. Justification: The existence of an alteration of mood as depression affects decision making diagnostic and therapeutic in the patient, is necessary to study its presence to provide management early to medical residents. Material and methods: Descriptive observational study carried out in the General Hospital of Xoco, Jose Castro Villagrana Health Center and Hospital Enrique Cabrera and stitched in emergency medical, internal medicine, General Surgery and family medicine residents. Questionnaires for the measurement of SRQ scale, with the aim of identifying the presence of depression is applied. Results: 119 residents were studied: emergency medical, General Surgery, internal medicine and family medicine’s 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd and 4 year. 52% female and 48% male to obtaining a prevalence of 7.56 per each 100 medical specialists are probable cases of serious and 27 of every 100, with moderate depressive episode. Conclusions: The prevalence of depression is distributed: mild depressive episode: 64 each 100 residents; moderate depressive episode 27 per 100 residents of specialty and 7.56 serious depressive episode by each 100. The prevalence in terms of major depressive episode is higher for the specialty of General Surgery, followed by emergency, internal medicine, and finally family medicine; depression occurs more frequently in females.REFERENCES
