ABSTRACT
Granuloma due to
Candida SP is a mucocutaneous infection more frequently observed in children. The
main affected areas are face, oral mucosa, scalp and nails. Amphotericin B is an effective treatment.
We report a 41-year-old male with diabetes mellitus type 2, with two nodular skin lesions affecting the xiphoid
appendix and the right hypocondrial area.
Candida Albicans was isolated and the cytology test showed a granulomatous
inflammatory reaction. In the biopsy with PAS, fungal hyphas were found. An important amelioration
was observed with amphotericin B and itraconazol.
