In-transit metastasis from cutaneous malignant melanoma: Case report and literature review

ABSTRACT

In-transit metastases from cutaneous melanoma occur in approximately 6.4% of patients and usually in late stages of the disease. They portend a poor prognosis and their treatment is mostly palliative. Herein, we report a case of a 64 year-old patient with in-transit metastasis from a cutaneous melanoma of the first toenail appearing 4 years after complete surgical excision. We also review the prognosis and management of intransit metastases from melanoma.
