ABSTRACT
Fashion has been defined as a frivolous pleasure, that “strengthens”
human vanity. It is a constantly changing phenomenon
based on imitation-acceptance, it usually starts in adolescence,
more common in women, but lately also includes males. It has
been influenced by socioeconomic and cultural status, so clothing
and customs has divided even more the social classes, increasing
discrimination, racism and the emergence of diseases,
having a great impact in the medical field, so we must know
more about the influence in health. The approach to skin diseases
is quite complex and can require treatment of medical,
surgical and cosmetics problems related to the increasing frequency,
of dermatoses associated to fashion.
