Actinomycosis, acne conglobata-like. Report of a lethal case with cutaneous, pleural and cardiac involvement

ABSTRACT

Actinomycosis is a rare infection of the skin and viscerae. We report the case of a 37 year-old man with cutaneous actinomycosis mimicking acne conglobata, with pleural and heart involvement. Diagnosis was confirmed until the autopsy, and death was related to heart failure. This is an exceptional clinical presentation and it was a diagnostic challenge for various specialties in the medical field.
