Histopathological findings of nasal mucosa of patients post-surgery to correct septal deviation

ABSTRACT
Background: Septal deviation in Otolaryngology consultation is observed at a rate of 88%, for what is considered responsible for a high percentage of the pathologies associated with the nose and paranasal sinuses, such as chronic inflammatory processes of the nasal mucous.Objective: To analyze the histopathological findings of nasal mucous, in its septal and turbinal area, both convex and concave sides thereof, of post-surgical patients to correct septal deviation.
Material and method: An observational, descriptive and longitudinal study was done including post-surgical patients to correct septal deviation, in which the nasal mucous biopsy was performed in its septal and turbinal area and in their convex and concave sides.
Results: No histopathological result was normal. The chronic inflammatory process equals hyperplasia was present in 40% of the studies.
Conclusions: Histopathological studies can base with high effectiveness the diagnosis of allergy. Chronic inflammatory processes promote the development of other diseases.
