ABSTRACT

Hair is fundamental for human psychosocial development; hence its loss has a significant social impact. Alopecia areata (AA) is a form of autoimmune non-scarring telogenic alopecia occurring at any age and responsible for about 2% of dermatological consultations. Although management is rather difficult, specialists must be aware and make use of the wide range of topical and systemic drugs available today.
