Onychomycosis caused by three Candida species

ABSTRACT

Onychomycosis is an infection of the nail unit by dermatophytes, yeasts and molds; affecting both fingernails and toenails. Yeasts predominate in fingernails and Candida species are the most common isolated etiological agents. We report a immunocompetent patient with fingernail onychomycosis, caused by C. albicans, C. parapsilosis y C. tropicalis.
