ABSTRACT
Marjolin’s ulcer is a rare, aggressive skin cancer associated with
burn scars. Most cases (75-96%) present as a squamous cell carcinoma,
with lesser incidence (1-25%) of squamous cell carcinoma
and other histological forms.
Treatment of choice is surgical excision and skin grafting,
with a recurrence rate of 20-25%. Prognosis depends on patient’s
age, tumor size and histological type, presence of metastasis,
recurrences and implemented treatment.
This article describes a case of squamous cell carcinoma on
a burn scar. The patient was successfully treated with surgical
excision and autologous skin grafts.
