ABSTRACT
Cervicouterine cancer is e second leading cause of death among women all over the world and first one among women in lessdeveloped countries there are about 500 000 newly diagnosed cases worldwide every year and about 80% of all cases (belong to---are from) less-developed countries 272 000 women die because of cancer yearly.
Objectives: To describe the risk factors observed in women reported with positive (smear pap) al Dr Mario Escalona Reguera Polyclinic health area from January 2010 to December 2012.
Method: A retrospective-descriptive research about premalignant lesions and cervicouterino cancer, as well as about the behavor of different risk factors associated to those diseases was carried out. The sample was conformed by 115 patients with positive Papanicolau smears. We took into consideration as premalignant lesions-cervical intraepitelian neoplasia (CIN I, II, III or carcinoma in situ (CIS). We revised the clinical history and the Papanicolau smears of each patient.
Results: The cervical intraepithelial neoplasia was the most common lesion diagnosed. Although it may occur in younger women, the average age observed was 25-39 years old the most frequent risk factors associated to it were: multilabors, abortions, early age al first intercourse, among others.
Conclusion: Young women are the most frequently affected. We found positive in female patients below 25 years old (Even women below 25 years old can be affected). A great percentage of the cases were infected by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
