ABSTRACT
The glomus are tumors which are derived from the glomus bodies, and they correspond to arteriovenous confluences with termoregulation, and are diferent from the glomus tumors derived from the paraganglionic system. The glomangiomas are benign tumors that are characterized for the anomalous presence of smooth muscle like cells. Two types of glomus tumors exists: the solitary type, which is the most frecuent in 90% of cases and the multiple type variant in 10% of cases. The first laryngeal glomangioma successfully treated with endoscopic surgery with CO2 laser was first published in 2005 by Lee et al. Neuroendocrine neoplasms of the larynx are extremely rare and classically have been described as submucosal lesions. The vast majority have been described in the supraglotis (82%), followed by the subglotis (15%). They are more predominant in women in their fourth and sixth decade of life. Diagnosis is made by histopathological analysis and immunostaining of the lesions. They are considered benign lesions and the treatment is based in surgical resection. We report the case of a female patient presenting with hoarseness for 5 years who was diagnosed with laryngeal glomus.
