ABSTRACT
Introduction: Hemangiolymphangiomas are malformations composed of a combination of lymphatic and blood vessels; they behave as lymphangiomas circumscriptum. They are believed to be caused by anomalous embryological development of the lymphatic and vascular system, leading to the formation of a rapidly growing tumor. There are multiple therapeutic options; the definitive treatment is surgical.
Material and methods: We present the case of a five-year-old female patient with a hemangiolymphangioma located in the neck. A single cystic-solid tumor was identified using ultrasound and contrasted computed axial tomography. An aspiration biopsy was performed, followed by surgical resection of the tumor.
Results: Through pathological anatomy, we determined that it was a cystic hemangiolymphangioma.
Conclusion: Diagnosis may be clinical, however, deep lesions are identified best by magnetic resonance and computed axial tomography. The definitive diagnosis is based on a histopathological study.
