ABSTRACT
Melanocytomas are benign tumors that originate in the melanocytes of the leptomeninges and occasionally develop a malignant behavior. Their most frequent location is extramedular, in the posterior fossa. We describe the case of a patient with an intramedullary melanocytoma. The unusual presentation in this case merits high degree of suspicion and inclusion in the differential diagnosis of intramedullary spinal cord tumors.
