ABSTRACT
It was performed a case and witness study in patients with acute myocardial infarction with hypertension diagnosis in the Medical Center of Integral Diagnosis ¨Secundino Urbina¨ from the municipality of Coro, Falcon State, in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, during the period of January 1st, 2008 to December 31st of 2010, with the objective to identify the influence of specific risk factors in the presence of this disease. The sample was obtained at random and it was integrated by 70 cases and 70 witnesses. In the unvaried analysis most of the researched factors constituted a risk for the presence of the acute myocardial infarction. The multivariate analysis showed that the most important factor with independent influence was the level of severity; grade IV OR: 6.23; IC: 4, 12-10, 56; p: 0.000), followed by the evolution time of hypertension (OR: 4.57; IC: 2.54-7.89; p: 0.000) and the age over than 65 years, (OR: 3, 25; IC: 2, 48-8, 96; p: 0,001). It was concluded that with the obtained values in the model of logistic regression for the risk factors of independent influence in the presence of the acute myocardial infarction in hypertensive patients, it is offered an approximate idea of the probability to increase the aforesaid disease.
