Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

ABSTRACT

Introduction: the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a compressive lesion of the medial nerve of multiple causes. It is a peripheral Neuropathy with biological, psychological and social connotations.
Objective: updated study about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Material and Methods: a bibliographic revision was made on 100 national and foreigners authors and a synthesis was extracted to facilitate in a practical way to our Medical doctors because it is a frequent entity in our environment and if they don´t know it, is not well diagnosed.
Development: it is showed about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: a historical review and anatomy- physiological study. Its physiopathology, clinical manifestations and complementary tests were taken into account to confirm the diagnosis and different types of treatment either medical or surgical In addition to reviewing trends physiology and it's including clinical manifestations Different types of research studies are mentioned, too.
Conclusions: we will achieve that the doctor widen up its knowledge about this entity which is a reason of consultation and tends to be confused and be combined with a cervical discopathy.
