ABSTRACT
The fracture of the femur is a severe event developed by high energy trauma mechanism. Usually these fractures are solve by nailing systems; most of the patients healed without inconveniences. Although the complications that may be develop, could be serious and even may compromise life. The complications, reported in the literature are: Fracture of the implant, refracture, delay in healing and pseudoarthrosis; neurological complications, angular deformities and shortening; vascular complications and others. In this research, we reported 16 patients with 19 secondary complications to the using of nailing systems in the treatment of femoral shaft fractures. The inclusion criteria were: Patients with complications secondary to the application of an endomedullary nails in femoral shafts fractures. The exclusion criteria were: patients with severe systemic complications that exclude them of a surgical option. The elimination criteria were: Incomplete file of the patient. We mention the profiles of the patients, the characteristics of the fractures and the different nails they have been used. We described the treatment systems we used to solve this complications. We concluded that the healing of this complications, take a long time and most of the patients recover their normal function.
