ABSTRACT
Aortic dissection is a sudden event with high mortality rates. Its incidence is about 5 to 30 patients per million. The
mortality of this disease increases 1-2% with each hour after dissection. It is most common in men between 50 to 60
years of age. The íntimal tear of the aorta is the main event. Cystic necrosis or degeneration of the mid aortic layer is the
previous for the development of a traumatic aortic dissection. We present the case of a patient with an aortic dissection
accompanied by clinical features and imaging studies. After diagnosis, surgical treatment was performed without
complications.
