Electroacupunctura vs acupuncture in the treatment of patient with herpes zoster

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The term herpes comes from the greek herpes, of the verb herpein that means to slip, to crawl, to wind and it made reference to certain lesions of the skin, it is produced by the virus of the chicken pox zoster.Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the acupuncture and electro acupuncture in the treatment of patient with herpes zoster.
Methods: It was carried out an experimental study in the Service of Rehabilitation of Remedies, in the period of one year. 43 patients integrated their sample and they completed the inclusion approaches and they conformed to two treatment groups: a group control to which was applied acupuncture and a group study that received electroacupuncture. The age and the patient's sex, the localization of the lesions, the evaluation of the pain to the beginning as well as the days of evolution of the affection before the treatment and the answer to this, they were the studied variables.
Results: Bigger proportion of qualified results was obtained of well with The electro acupuncture. In the duration of the treatment with both techniques influenced the increase of the age and of the time of evolution of the pathology, the masculine sex, the intensity of the pain to the beginning and the localization of the lesion, being the intercostals the most representative.
Conclusions: The electro acupuncture turned out to be discreetly more effective than the acupuncture in the treatment of the herpes zoster with qualified patients' bigger number of well and a smaller average of sessions.
