ABSTRACT
The improvement in urologic surgery in the last century has broaden the available options on patients. Who needs an ureteral reimplantation. This procedure is designed for the treatment of varied diseases who involved the ureterovesical junction and put on risk the function of ipsilateral kidney. The objective of this study was to compare the pain by vesicoureteral reflux in patients with ureteral reimplantation using the extravesical technique of Lich-Gregoir
vs the intravesical technique of Politano Leadbetter. We reviewed 55 patients records and only 40 had the complete requisite for the present revision, including patients treated between January 1994 and December 2003 in our hospital. This 40 patients were assigned as group I if were treated with Lich-Gregoir included 26 patients (65%) and as group II if were treated with Politano technique and included 14 patients (35%). Pain caused by vesicoureteral reflux was seen in 7 patients: 4 of the group I (15.36%) and 3 in group II (21.4%) without significant difference in pain between both techniques.
Conclusions: Ureteral reimplantation is both efficient using Lich-Gregoir technique as Politano without difference in presentation of pain caused by vesicoureteral reflux in adults. The high incidence in our cohort maybe is because the predominance of iatrogenic ureteral lesions in gynecological procedures.
