ABSTRACT
Abdominal damage control surgery is a staged technique which was developed for supporting trauma patients, helping them to recover their physiological status with the simplest and fastest surgical procedures. This type of surgery has salvage severely injured patients, who would have previously died if the surgeons had accomplished a more complex definitive surgery. There are some indications that must be known by the surgeons involved in trauma patient care. The group of patients with coagulopathy, acidosis and hypothermia is the most recognized group who has been benefited from this technique.
