ABSTRACT
Background: The airway evaluation and management, is one of the most important things in the anesthesiologist performance, early identification of the difficult airway is a basic and determinate step in the safe and specific management to the patient in risk.
Methods: The study included all patients in a 3 months period, adults, management by General Anesthesia and endotracheal intubation, with preanesthesia and airway evaluation. Excluded pediatric patients, airway diseases or syndromes, and other non standard tracheal intubation systems.
Results: 90 patients were included, 15% were difficult airway management. Mallampati score was the most sensibility with the 15.2%, and the specificity with 86.7% was the mouth opening range.
Conclusions: In our study found a reports wide world similar, with a 15% of the difficult airway management, and we postulated that the different predicting scores of the difficult airway it must included in every single preanesthesia evaluation, for early detection to the difficult airway and correct management of the patients.
