ABSTRACT
Background: Histiocytosis of Langerhans cells is a rare disease, of
unknown cause, whose most common form of manifestation is as eosinophilic
granuloma (osseous form of the disease).
Objective: Collect general aspects of eosinophilic granuloma to associate
them with its radiological manifestations, always considering the
different stages of the disease.
Material and methods: bibliographic review seeking to show the wide
range of possibilities of eosinophilic granuloma by imaging methods.
Results: both the clinical characteristics and general radiological
manifestations of the eosinophilic granuloma were evidenced, as well
as specific images by affected bone segment. Also, it was shown that
there are different evolutionary stages of the disease and the importance
of that fact was confirmed.
Conclusion: there is clinical and radiologic data capable of strongly
suggesting diagnosis of eosinophilic granuloma, even without a histopathologic report.
