ABSTRACT
The obstetric hemorrhage is the single most important cause of maternal mortality throughout the world, present in 25% of maternal deaths. Is a direct cause in 11% of deaths in the UK and 9% in the United States. At global level, multiple specific therapies of second line are used in the treatment of obstetric hemorrhage in which the therapy with uterotonic drugs has failed. After an initial report of B-Lynch, et al., the frequency of the use of uterine compression sutures has increased since its introduction in 1997. The main indication to perform a uterine compression suture is the hemorrhage due to uterine atony, but can be performed in all circumstances in which it’s believed that the compression is necessary to control uterine bleeding. This technique is of particular interest because it’s relatively easy to perform, safe, preserves reproductive capacity and, in case of failure, allows the realization of more radical interventionsREFERENCES
