Review of the effectiveness of emergency contraception

ABSTRACT

Is a review of the efficacy of the emergency contraception (EC), of the hormonal methods and the intrauterine device. Of the hormonal methods the more successful is the ulipristal acetate, whose efficacy has been demonstrated in the pre and periovulation. The progesterone receptor modulators are a good option too, even though in our country is not available the appropiate dose presentation for EC. The single dose and the two doses method of levonorgestrel is equal eficcacy, and is the method most used in our country. The Yuspe method is more frecuent no longer used. The copper IUD is the most effective method furthermore required trained providers and sterilized facilities for his insertion.
