ABSTRACT
There is a big similarity between hydranencephaly and severe congenital hydrocephalus clinically as well as in image
studies. Generally the electroencephalogram does not show electrical activity and the brain stem auditory evoked
potentials are normal. This article presents four cases of children with hydranencephaly associated to bilateral
carotid occlusion and clinical neuroimage aspects as well as brainstem auditory potentials, sleep profile, epilepsy
and subclinical epileptiform EEG activity are discussed.
