ABSTRACT
We report a 54 old man, Hispanic, with hemolytic anemia secondary to sickle cell disease. He was admitted to the hospital with clinical symptoms of vaso-oclussive crises, severe arthralgia, abdominal and chest pain. Later on, he developed neurological dysfunction and respiratory distress with criteria for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) that required mechanical ventilator and ICU care.
