ABSTRACT
Currently one of the branches of medicine has evolved faster is definitely medicine critical patient, their evolution over time has improved its management to have better technology. Current epidemiological transition, makes critical care patients are increasingly older, leading to the presence of ventilatory, neurological diseases, and acute onset neuropsychiatric Delirium as, among others. There is great concern about the increasingly frequent occurrence in patients receiving mechanical ventilation, increasing patient morbidity and mortality of intensive therapy. Currently Evidence Based Medicine proposes a number of quality packages that are intended to identify, prevent and / or treat delirium adquired in intensive care unit (ICU) patients receiving sedation and mechanical ventilation, achieving improve on life and prognosis of patients.
